JURUPA VALLEY, Calif. -

Five people were arrested, three on suspicion of drunken driving, at a checkpoint in Jurupa Valley, police said.

The checkpoint on Van Buren Boulevard, north of Clay Street, began 8 p.m. Saturday and ended at 3 a.m. Sunday, Jurupa Valley police said.

Police screened 1,632 drivers and gave 27 sobriety tests, arresting three on suspicion of driving under the influence, police said. One driver was booked on an unspecified felony warrant and one was booked on suspicion of possessing an illegal drug for sale.

Officers ticketed 44 drivers, and four cars were towed and impounded, police said.
