Edward Snowden - This former American intelligence contractor exposed the U.S. government's secret surveillance programs in June 2013 through documents leaked to The Guardian and The Washington Post. He revealed himself as the leaker after leaving the country, and federal prosecutors subsequently charged Snowden with espionage and theft of government property.
