1969: Actress Cate Blanchett, best known for movies such as "Elizabeth," "The Aviator" and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" and the "Lord of the Ring" trilogy, is born in Melbourne, Australia. Blanchett won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for portraying Katharine Hepburn in "The Aviator" and was also nominated for her roles in "Elizabeth," "Notes on a Scandal," "I'm Not There" and "Elizabeth: The Golden Age."
