2010: A car bomb is discovered in New York City's Times Square after street vendors notice smoke coming from a vehicle. The bomb ignites, but fails to detonate and is disarmed before it can cause any injuries. Faisal Shahzad, a naturalized U.S. citizen born in Pakistan, would eventually plead guilty to 10 counts arising from the bombing attempt and be sentenced to life in prison.
