1920: Actress Virginia Mayo, Warner Brothers biggest box office money maker in the late 1940s, is born Virginia Clara Jones in St. Louis, Mo. Mayo got her start in vaudeville and is best known for a series of comedic films withDanny Kaye. She also appeared alongside Bob Hope in "The Princess and the Pirate," with James Cagney in "White Heat" (pictured), and in William Wyler's Best Picture Oscar-winner "The Best Years of Our Lives."
