A teenager has been arrested in connection to a deadly shooting in Desert Hot Springs that happened in January.
The identity of the 16-year-old boy has been released because he's being charged as an adult.
Isaac Pugal Moreno, of Desert Hot Springs, was charged Thursday with murdering 19-year-old Isaac Paez, near Buena Vista Avenue and Palm Drive.
The shooting happened around 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday, January 28. Paez was taken to the hospital but died from multiple gunshot wounds, police said in a statement.
Moreno allegedly killed Paez to assist gang activity and was in a gang at the time of the shooting. He's being charged with special gang enhancements, according to police.
Desert Hot Springs police haven't said how detectives began investigating Moreno in the shooting.
The Riverside County District Attorney's Office said Moreno plead not guilty at his arraignment and is due back in court on March, 17. He's being held at the Riverside County Juvenile Hall without bail.
The investigation continues, authorities said to contact the Desert Springs Police Department at (760) 329-6411 if you have any information about the incident.
