1963: Singer and actress Whitney Houston is born in Newark, N.J. She would become one of the world's best-selling music artists and the only artist to chart seven consecutive No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 hits. Her first acting role was the starring role in 1992's "The Bodyguard," for which she also performed the lead single "I Will Always Love You." The soundtrack abum won the 1994 Grammy Award for Album of the Year and the song became the best-selling single by a female artist in history. She also starred in the movies "Waiting to Exhale" and "The Preacher's Wife." She was found dead at age 48 in her room at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Calif., on Feb. 11, 2012. The official coroner's report showed that she had accidentally drowned in the bathtub, with heart disease and cocaine use listed as contributing factors.
