Public domain

1623: Anne Hathaway, the wife of William Shakespeare, dies at age 67 in Stratford-upon-Avon, England. Very little is known about Hathaway, who outlived her husband by seven years, beyond a few references in legal documents. This portrait drawn by Sir Nathaniel Curzon in 1708 is purported to be of Hathaway, but there is no proof of the claim.
