1911: Actress and comedian Lucille Ball, the sitcom star who was one of Hollywood's biggest stars during her lifetime, is born in Jamestown, N.Y. Ball became a television star in the 1950s and starred in the sitcoms "I Love Lucy," "The Lucy–Desi Comedy Hour," "The Lucy Show," "Here's Lucy" and "Life with Lucy." She was nominated for an Emmy Award 13 times, winning four times in her career.
