RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. -

The Rancho Mirage Public Library will host a free screening tonight of a documentary about classical pianist Marika Bournaki, followed by a performance by Bournaki.

The screening of the documentary, "I Am Not a Rock Star," will begin at 7 p.m., library spokeswoman Susan Cook said.

Bournaki began studying piano at age 5 and at 9 was a soloist with Orchestre Symphonique de Montreal in a performance of Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 17. She has performed internationally since then, according to her website.

"I Am Not a Rock Star" was filmed over eight years by award-winning director Bobby Jo Hart and follows the young pianist's coming of age. The film was shot in  in concert halls, hotels and airports around the world and features some of her performances, Cook said.

"The film turns Ms. Bournaki's life into a visual narrative, revealing both the rewards and costs of a life dedicated to musical excellence," Cook said.

Seating is first-come, first-served.
