1972: Rapper and actor Common, known for such Grammy-winning songs as "Love of My Life (An Ode to Hip-Hop)" and "Southside," is born Lonnie Rashid Lynn Jr. in Chicago, Ill. Common has appeared in movies such as "Smokin' Aces," "Street Kings," "American Gangster," "Wanted" and "Just Wright" (pictured), and stars on the AMC western television series "Hell on Wheels."
