1962: Country singer-songwriter Garth Brooks, who broke records for both record sales and concert attendance throughout the 1990s, is born Troyal Garth Brooks in Tulsa, Okla. Brooks has seen 19 of his songs hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, including "The Dance," "Friends in Low Places," "The Thunder Rolls," "Longneck Bottle" and "Two Piña Coladas."
