1970: The drama "Patton," with George C. Scott portraying U.S. General George S. Patton during World War II, premieres in New York City. The movie would win seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Actor for Scott, although he famously refused to accept the award, citing a dislike of the voting and even the actual concept of acting competitions.
