1908: Lester Joseph Gillis, who would become a bank robber better known as Baby Face Nelson, is born in Chicago, Ill. Gillis, who adopted the pseudonym George Nelson, was responsible for the murder of several people in a criminal career that stretched from 1930 until his death following a shootout with FBI agents in November 1934.
