1973: The movie drama "Serpico," starring Al Pacino and directed by Sidney Lumet, premieres in theaters. The movie, which is based on the biography of NYPD officer Frank Serpico, who went undercover to expose corruption in the force, would earn Pacino his first Golden Globe for Best Actor. Pacino would also earn an Academy Award nomination for his performance, with the film also earning an Oscar nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay.
