1921: Silent film star Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle's first manslaughter trial in the death of actress Virginia Rappe ends in a hung jury. Arbuckle, who was accused of raping and accidentally killing Rappe, would go through two more highly publicized trials before being acquitted. However, the scandal would mostly overshadowed his legacy as a pioneering comedian.
