1969: Baseball pitcher Mariano Rivera, a 12-time All-Star who has played for the New York Yankees since his MLB debut in 1995, is born in Panama City, Panama. Rivera, who has won five World Series titles with the Yankees, is MLB's all-time leader in saves (608) and games finished (892).
