1960: Gordie Howe of the Detroit Red Wings becomes the first NHLer to score 1,000 points in a career. A year later, on Nov. 27, 1961, he would also become the first player to play in 1,000 NHL games. When he retires in 1980, Howe, seen here in 1966, will have racked up 1,850 points in 1,767 games in his career.
