1620: Plymouth Colony settlers sign the Mayflower Compact while the Mayflower was anchored in what is now Provincetown Harbor within the hook at the northern tip of Cape Cod. The compact, signed by most of the adult men on the boat, was the first governing document of Plymouth Colony. This bas relief in Provincetown, Mass., shows the signing taking place.
