1936: Talk show host Dick Cavett is born in Gibbon, Neb. Cavett, who would start his career as a gofer for Time magazine and as talent coordinator and writer for Jack Parr's "The Tonight Show," would host his own show "The Dick Cavett Show," in various formats and on various television and radio networks," from 1968 through 2007. He's seen here with Jerry Lewis on his show in 1973.
