1996: The drama "The English Patient," starring Ralph Fiennes, Juliette Binoche, Willem Dafoe and Kristin Scott Thomas, and directed by Anthony Minghella, premieres in Los Angeles. The movie would go on to win Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Supporting Actress for Binoche and Best Director.
