1965: Becoming the first pope to ever visit the United States and the Western hemisphere, Pope Paul VI arrives in New York. The pope meets with President Lyndon B. Johnson, addresses the United Nations General Assembly, celebrates Mass at Yankee Stadium, and visits the New York World's Fair while in New York City.
