Police were trying Monday to find a suspect who reportedly locked a woman in the trunk of her own car in Twentynine Palms.

The crime was reported Friday night shortly before  9:00 p.m. in the area of Mesquite Springs Road and Valle Vista Road.

The woman who was reportedly victimized said she'd picked up a hitchhiker near Indian Trail and Adobe Road.  That stranger then held a gun to her head, forced her to  take off some of her clothing then locked her in her car's trunk.

She wasn't hurt and called 9-1-1 while still locked in her own trunk.

Her cell phone calls led deputies to her location where she was then freed.

The suspect was described as a light-skinned black male, in his mid to early 20's, with a thin mustache and a scar above his right eye.

Anyone with information was urged to call the Morongo Basin station of the San Bernardino County Sheriffs Department.
