PALM SPRINGS, Calif. -

Businessman Harold Matzner will be named Arts Patron of the Year at the Palm Springs Fine Art Fair's opening-night reception Thursday night.

   Festivities start at 6 p.m. at the Palm Springs Convention Center, where Palm Springs City Councilmember Ginny Foat will present Matzner with a special proclamation.  The Fine Art Fair runs through Sunday at the convention center.

   Matzner is chairman of the Palm Springs International Film Festival and the McCallum Theatre, on the board of the Palm Springs Art Museum and owns Spencer's Restaurant.

   The Fine Art Fair includes featured artists, panel discussions, exhibits and installations. On Friday, artist Jennifer Bartlett will receive the fair's Lifetime Achievement Award and portrait photographer Greg Gorman will be named Photographer of the Year.
