La Quinta, Calif. -

La Quinta's 8th annual Hot Rod and Custom Car Show brought automobile enthusiasts out to La Quinta community park Sunday.

The show is one of the chamber of commerce's signature events. Nearly 200 hot-rods, muscle cars and high-end sports cars were on display.

Entries were judged in a competition with 'best of' trophies in various categories.

The event is always a great way for car enthusiasts to find out how much a car is worth, learn car facts and history, and find out where to get special parts.

"We originated this event when the city turned 25, about 8 years ago," said La Quinta Chamber of Commerce CEO, David Archer. We've just continued the tradition and it's grown every year. This year is the biggest year yet."

Organizers said this year's event drew more than 500 people.
