The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in the Inland Empire was unchanged Friday, remaining at $3.60, after increasing four consecutive days.

The average price in Riverside and San Bernardino counties is 1.1 cents more than one week ago but 4.3 cents less than one month ago and 10.2 cents lower than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price  Information Service.

The average price rose two-tenths of a cent on Monday, one-tenth of a cent on Tuesday, three-tenths of a cent on Wednesday and eight-tenths of a cent on Thursday.

The recent increases are the result of a ``surge in wholesale'' prices stemming from refinery maintenance work, said Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
