INDIO, Calif. -

Since 2004, the Coachella Valley Christmas Store has been spreading holiday cheer to many families in need.

"When they come to the store they are greeted by a personal shopper and they take them to get a family photo," says Deanna Gibson, co-director of the store.

The store operates under the umbrella of the Narrow Door, a non-profit organization helping families year-round.

Hundreds of donations fill several rooms with toys at three store locations. Volunteers work countless hours to make sure families walk away with a smile on their face.

"We wouldn't have anything, nothing at all, so it's a blessing," said Shirley Williams. Williams is one of the 1,500 families being served this year.

Besides the toys, families can also take a picture with Santa Claus and receive a box of food.

"We are so thankful for the community, we could not do this without their help to support the Coachella Valley Christmas Store," said Gibson.
