La Quinta, Calif. -

A Cathedral City man is facing charges this morning accused of resisting arrest and fighting with a police officer.

Police arrested 27-year-old German Alverdin Tuesday morning in La Quinta.

It started as a routine traffic stop when an officer pulled him over near Jefferson and Independence Way.

Police say Alverdin was driving without a license.

He then resisted arrest and got into a struggle with an officer.

He was able to break free and run away.

Police later arrested Alverdin after they found him hiding in someone's backyard. 

No injuries are being reported.

Alverdin was booked into the county jail in indio.
