A La Quinta man was jailed Friday morning accused of driving under the influence of alcohol in Indian Wells and crashing into a palm tree and a wall.

Police arrested James Conway, 44, late Thursday night after being called to Osage Trail and Apache road.

They said Conway drove off after the crash.  Officers followed a trail of vehicle fluids to nearby Shawnee Circle.

Officers said they found him still sitting behind the wheel of the damaged Ford Taurus there and took him into custody.

Conway suffered minor injuries and is expected to recover.

Police arrested him for suspicion of DUI and later booked Conway into the Riverside County Jail in the city of Indio.
