Cathedral City to hold swearing in today
City Council will also certify November election's results at city hall
The City Council will hold a special meeting today to swear in members and certify the results of the November election in which Mayor Kathy DeRosa retained her seat by 13 votes.
The Cathedral City special City Council meeting is scheduled for 3 p.m. in the council chamber, 68-700 Avenida Lalo Guerrero.
DeRosa received 5,729 votes in the Nov. 6 election, while challenger Chip Yarborough got 5,716. Yarborough asked the Riverside County Registrar of Voters for a recount Thursday, then stopped the recount on Friday and conceded the race. The recount didn't change the election's outcome.
DeRosa and council members Greg Pettis and Stanley Henry will be sworn in at the special meeting, which will be held before the 4 p.m. regular meeting.
