The body of a 48-year-old man was found in a dirt area next to an abandoned building in Mecca Wednesday.

The body was found around 5:30 p.m. in the 65700 block of Hammond Road, according to the coroner's office.

An autopsy to determine the cause of death was pending, but authorities do not believe the man was the victim of foul play, said Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Robert Castro.

The man's name was withheld pending notification of his family.
