Yucca Park shooting suspect arrested for murder

Police still looking for second suspect

INDIO, Calif. - An Indio man has been arrested in connection to a deadly shooting at Yucca Park that occurred on May 28.

Gary Steven Griffin-Ramirez, 21, was spotted by police near America's Tire in Indio off Highway 111 Wednesday morning. Officers initially detained him as a person of interest but subsequently arrested him for murder.

Authorities said he was booked into the Riverside County Jail Wednesday afternoon.

Police are still searching for a second suspect named Steven Rapan. Rapan was identified as one of the shooters in the homicide. They said he's a known 'SMG' North Indio gang member.

Rapan is 23 years old, 5'5", 150 lbs. and also goes by the name 'Ziggy'.

Police say he's known to frequent the Indio area, specifically a home on the 82 000 block of Mountain View Avenue.

The weapons used in the shooting haven't been found and Rapan is considered armed and dangerous, according to police. Anyone who contacts Rapan should use caution and contact 911 immediately.

The shooting victim was found just after 2:30 a.m. on May 28 in the area of Kenner Street and Yucca Lane. Police said the man was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center but later died from his injuries.

The victim's name still hasn't been released by the Riverside County Coroner's Office.
