LA QUINTA, Calif, - A 20-year-old La Quinta woman was arrested Wednesday night after causing two accidents while allegedly driving drunk, then kicking a sergeant in the face before spitting on her.
It appears everything started just before 11 p.m. Wednesday night, when Whitney Harrison, 20, of La Quinta, crashed her Toyota Corolla into a car stopped at the intersection of Washington and Fred Waring. Harrison fled the scene travelling south on Washington.
Harrison continued south on Washington against oncoming traffic, and soon hit a car travelling in the northbound lanes. Harrison drove from that collision scene as well, made a U-turn onto the southbound side of Washington, and stopped inside the parking lot of Applebee's Restaurant in La Quinta.
When police finally located Whitney Harrison, she became combative with deputies and kicked a sergeant in the face before spitting on her.
Harrison was arrested for driving under the influence, hit and run and battery on a peace officer. She was taken to John F. Kennedy Memorial as a precaution and booked into the Riverside County Jail in Indio.
The drivers of the second and third vehicles were not injured. The officer sustained no injuries.
She posted a $3,000 bond today, according to jail records.
