PALM DESERT, Calif. - Bighorn Sheep are being spotted more frequently around the desert. They're on golf courses and many drivers are seeing them up on Highway 74. Mating season is underway, meaning a large presence of bighorn sheep are out and about. Today the California Highway Patrol was called to the scene where a car allegedly hit a sheep on Highway 74 near Vista Point. Officials were not able to find an injured sheep near the reported crash site. While our camera were rolling we spotted four un-injured sheep around the area. The City of Palm Desert moved one of the Bighorn Crossing signs a little more out into the open. Officials from the Bighorn Institute say during breeding season, Bighorn Sheep cross over Highway 74 more often than any other time of the year.
