INDIO, Calif. - Two more suspects have been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 57-year-old man near Indio, authorities said Friday.
Raymond Lopez, 22, of Indio was arrested on suspicion of murder and Melanie Anaya, 22, of Coachella, was arrested on suspicion of being an accessory to murder, said Sgt. Jeff Buompensiero of the Indio Police Department.
Both were booked into the county jail in Indio, he said. It was unclear when and where they were arrested.
They are suspected in the death of Indio resident Arthur Felix Candelaria, who was found stabbed multiple times around 8:50 p.m. on Jan. 13 in the driveway of a home in the 84000 block of Lingayan Avenue in an unincorporated area near Indio.
Candelaria was declared dead about 90 minutes later at Desert Regional
Medical Center, Buompensiero said.
David Montoya Sanchez, 43, has already been charged with murder in the case.
Sanchez plead not guilty at his arraignment last Thursday at Indio's Larson Justice Center, and his bail was set at $1.5 million. He is due back in court Monday for a felony settlement conference.
Sanchez was arrested about 3 p.m. Jan. 14 near Jackson Street and Avenue 52 in Coachella, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, which has not released a motive for the stabbing.
