INDIO, Calif. - The Indio Police Department investigated a suspicious package that was found behind the Larson Justice Center Friday morning. Once the package was analyzed, it ended up not being a threat.
According to spokesman Ben Guitron, the green box turned out to be a container full of bicycle chains.
County employees found the box around 10:30 a.m. Nobody knew where the package came from so they decided to treat it as suspicious, Guitron said.
Officers blocked the frontage road behind the justice center but never ordered any evacuations in the area.
KESQ & CBS Local 2 went to the seen. Officers didn't appear to be too concerned but they called in the Riverside County Hazmat team to analyze the box as a precaution.
