Police: Az man accused in I-10 shooting death brought cocaine to Blythe jail

Kyler Jeffrey Arnold, of Chandler, Arizona, is suspected in the death of Delores Stygar, 59, of Nogales, Mexico

INDIO, Calif. - Involuntary manslaughter and drug charges were filed Wednesday against an 18-year-old Arizona man accused in the shooting death of a woman who was found inside a car on Interstate 10 near Desert Center.

Kyler Jeffrey Arnold, of Chandler, Arizona, is suspected in the death of Delores Stygar, 59, of Nogales, Mexico. Sheriff's deputies found Stygar at 5:46 p.m. Sunday inside a vehicle on westbound I-10, about two miles west of Eagle Mountain Road.

Stygar was airlifted to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, where she was pronounced dead, said sheriff's Sgt. Jeff Buompensiero.

Investigators from the sheriff's Colorado River Station and Central Homicide Unit identified Arnold as the suspect and arrested him Monday morning on North Spring Street in Blythe. Sheriff's deputies did not disclose the relationship, if any, between Arnold and the victim or elaborate on what led them to identify him as the suspect.

In addition to the involuntary manslaughter count, Arnold is facing charges of possession of controlled substances while armed, possession of contraband in jail and a misdemeanor charge of carrying a loaded firearm in a public place.

The criminal complaint alleges that Arnold was in possession of cocaine while armed and brought cocaine, marijuana and Xanax with him into the Blythe jail when he was booked on Sunday.

Arnold was later transferred to the Riverside County jail in Indio, where he was being held in lieu of $1 million bail, according to jail records. Anyone with information was asked to contact Investigator Loureiro of the sheriff's Central Homicide Unit at (760) 393-3524.
