RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. - A Palm Springs woman suffered moderate injuries and faces DUI charges after driving her car into oncoming traffic and colliding with another car on Highway 111 in Rancho Mirage, police said today.
The collision was reported at 2:40 p.m. Sunday on Highway 111 at Paxton Road, Rancho Mirage police Sgt. Aaron Eller said.
``The investigation revealed the driver of a silver Honda Civic was traveling eastbound on Highway 111 and crossed over the center median into the westbound lanes of oncoming traffic,'' Eller said. ``The Honda Civic collided with a silver 2003 BMW, which was traveling westbound.''
The Honda driver, identified as Brittany Kendziora, 20, of Palm Springs, was transported to a hospital with moderate injuries, he said.
The 30-year-old man driving the BMW and the 34-year-old woman in the passenger seat both suffered minor injuries and they were transported to a hospital for treatment, Eller said.
``The investigation revealed that Kendziora showed signs of driving while impaired under the influence of alcohol,'' he said. ``She was arrested and remains at the hospital due to her injuries. Charges of driving under the influence causing injury will be filed with the District Attorney's Office,'' Eller said.
