Palm Springs man killed in motorcycle crash

CHP: Michael Corley lost control because he was driving too fast around a curve

SKY VALLEY, Calif. - A man had died after crashing his motorcycle near Sky Valley Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities identified the man Wednesday morning as Michael Corley, 37, of Palm Springs. The crash happened just before 3 p.m. at Thousand Palms Canyon Road and Dillon Road.

Corley was taken to Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage but died from his injuries hours after the crash.

He was wearing a helmet but it wasn't a full face helmet, according to police. Officers with CHP said Corley lost control around a curve because he was driving too fast.

He collided with a posted street sign and was ejected from the motorcycle.

CHP reminds motorcyclists to wear the safest equipment possible when driving.
