Palm Springs man arrested after being found with stolen car, property

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. - Police arrested a man in Palm Springs Tuesday after they found him in possession of a stolen car and other stolen property, according to a press release from the Palm Springs Police Department.

At around 5:55 a.m., PSPD officers noticed an unoccupied car parked at a hotel on the 1600 block of South Palm Canyon Dr that had previously been reported stolen during a burglary of a home on the 500 block of East Amado Rd.

Police staked out the area until they observed a person get in the vehicle and drive to a residence in Cathedral City. Officers then followed the car to a parking lot in Palm Springs where they arrested 48-year-old Frank Gonzales Eiras of Palm Springs.

Eiras had suspected methamphetamine both on him and in the stolen car, according to the release. He also had an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest in Nevada.

Detectives searched the hotel room where Eiras had been staying and found several items that had been reported stolen during the burglary on Armado Rd.

Eiras was booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning on felony counts of possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of stolen property, and possession of a controlled substance.
