Memorial Day traffic slow through Coachella Valley

People headed home after three-day holiday weekend going nowhere fast Monday afternoon

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. - Motorists reported a "slow-go" on roadways through the Coachella Valley Monday afternoon.

Izzy Torrez Tweeted, "An hour and a half in traffic and we're not even out of Palm Springs yet."

Westbound Interstate 10 traffic appeared to be moving at a moderate to slow speed west of Ramon Road in Thousand Palms.

Motorists headed toward Los Angeles should be prepared for low speeds and a lengthy trip at least through the Banning and Beaumont area where it's normally a 20 minute drive west of Palm Springs.

The California Highway Patrol reported speeds of approximately 25 miles per hour in the area.

A few traffic troubles were reported during the afternoon hours, a brush fire reported at 3:30 p.m. along the freeway west of Frontage Road.

A couple of other relatively minor collisions were also reported.

Annie Nelson reported 7 mile an hour traffic speeds Monday afternoon on the freeway westbound.

Ryan Rodriquez Tweeted, "Have fun with traffic. I've been in Palm Springs for 45 minutes bumper to bumper."
