Marine dies after vehicle catches fire during training exercise

TWENTYNINE PALMS, Calif. - A Marine died Monday morning in Twentynine Palms after a training accident ended with an amphibious assault vehicle catching fire, killing one and injuring four others.

A Camp Pendleton statement Wednesday identified the Marine as Cpl. Nicholas Sell of Eagle Point, Ore. Sell was a member of the 3rd Assault Amphibious Battalion, 1st Marine Division. He enlisted on May 3, 2010. 

The accident occurred during a battalion assault course at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center at Twentynine Palms. The circumstances of the accident have not been released.

Of the four other Marines injured during the accident, three were treated and released, while one remains hospitalized in stable condition.
