RIVERSIDE, Calif. - A collegiate football player from Los Angeles was killed over the weekend in a car-to-car shooting on the 60 freeway.
The president of Chaffey College says Sheldon Martin was fatally shot Saturday night in the westbound lanes near Main Street.
Martin was a wide receiver for the Rancho Cucamonga-based college. He was one of five men in the car when shots were fired on them from another vehicle, two men were injured.
The car's driver told investigators that his friends got into some sort of verbal dispute with another group at a drive-in restaurant, and were followed onto the freeway by people in a dark-colored car.
Authorities are searching for suspects.
The conditions of the other two victims were not available.
