A 53-year-old Palm Springs man was behind bars today for allegedly threatening a bus driver in Palm Desert.
The threats were reported about 3:15 p.m. Wednesday on a SunLine bus in the 44000 block of Monterey Avenue. The suspect, Joel Brownstein, allegedly got on the bus and was involved in a ``verbal altercation'' with the driver, sheriff's Sgt. Aaron Eller said.
The driver called SunLine's dispatch center to report Brownstein's alleged threats, and sheriff's deputies subsequently arrested him. No one was hurt and no weapons were used, Eller said.
Brownstein was booked into county jail in Indio and was being held in lieu of $5,000 bail, according to jail records.
