LA QUINTA, Calif. - A La Quinta man is facing DUI charges after slamming into a vehicle over the weekend.
Police responded to a call about a wreck on Avenida Martinez south of Calle Tampico on Friday at 10:24 p.m.
That's where they found the 27 year-old driver David Garcia, behind the wheel of a white Ford pickup truck.
Authorities say Garcia was traveling southbound on Avenida Martinez and hit an unoccupied vehicle parked on the east side of the road.
Police say a passenger in Garcia's truck took off from the scene.
Garcia was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and was examined by medical staff before being booked into the county jail in the city of Indio.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information about this accident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 760-341-STOP (7867).
