PALM SPRINGS, Calif. - The general manager of Hotel Zoso, where a Hard Rock Hotel is being built in Palm Springs, was named vice president and general manager of the 160-room, Hard Rock Hotel set to open in September.
Hector Moreno will stay in charge while the hotel is built at 150 S. Indian Canyon Drive.
``Hollywood's love affair with this city reaches back to the days of Frank Sinatra and Marilyn Monroe, and now Hard Rock Hotel Palm Springs will help Palm Springs continue this storied tradition with celebrity visits and events,'' he said.
Hard Rock International, which has 18 hotels around the world, is working with Kittridge Hotel Management to turn the Hotel Zoso, 150 S. Indian Canyon Drive, into the Hard Rock Hotel, spokeswoman Therese Everett-Kerley said.
The only other Hard Rock Hotel in California is in San Diego. Hotel Zoso will be closed this summer while it is being converted.
The new hotel will have a VIP ``rock star'' suite, a spa and gym, a gift shop, food, a lobby bar, pool, fire pits and music memorabilia. The hotel will also have 20,500 square feet of ballroom and banquet facility space and a business center.
The hotel will have a program called ``Sound Of Your Stay,'' where guests can download a personal playlist, play Fender guitars and mix music tracks.
