Fire threatens Indio ice making company

Firefighters extinguish burning tractor trailers next to business without damage to building's interior

INDIO, Calif. - Firefighters contained a fire that threatened an Indio ice making company early Friday morning.

Two semi tractor trailers were reported to be on fire outside the Coachella Valley Ice Company on the 82700 block of Date Avenue at 1:57 a.m.

The big rigs were both parked in a loading dock area, next to the 30,000 square foot commercial building. 

But firefighters said they prevented the flames from spreading to the business interior and contained the fire by 2:38 a.m.

No injuries were reported.

Firefighters were expected to be committed to the scene for approximately two hours.

The fire's cause was under investigation.
