SALTON SEA, Calif. - Firefighters contained a slow-moving 45-acre fire that blackened a vacant lot near the Salton Sea.
The blaze, dubbed the ''Canal Fire,'' was reported shortly before midnight Friday at avenue 70 and Cleveland Street.
Crews contained the flames around 3 a.m. Saturday.
No injuries were reported.
