Dozens of arrests made during Coachella Valley Music and Arts festival weekend

The arrests were for drug and alcohol violations.

INDIO, Calif. - There were 27 arrests on Day Three of the first Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival weekend in Indio, bringing to 79 the number of attendees arrested for alcohol and drug offenses, it was reported today.

``The majority are alcohol-related,'' said Indio Police spokesman Bob Guitron of Sunday's arrests. ``Some are drug-related.''

On Friday, 23 arrests were reported followed by 29 on Saturday.

The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival attracts thousands of people. There will be a second installment of the festival next weekend, followed by the Stagecoach country festival April 25-27.

The stars were out at this weekend's sun-baked festival, according to E Online. Justin Bieber, making an unscheduled stop, performed with Chance the Rapper. Gwen Stefani also made an unexpected appearance.

Other celebrities photographed at Coachella included Beyonce', husband Jay Z, Katy Perry, Steven Tyler, Joe Jonas, Lindsay Lohan, Leonardo DiCaprio and Jared Leto.
