Desert Hot Springs fire displaces five

Crews put out the fire within about a half hour

A trailer home, a vehicle and an outbuilding were destroyed today by an early-morning noninjury fire that displaced a Desert Hot Springs family of five, authorities said.

The blaze at the home in the 69500 block of Dillon Road in the Holmes Hot Springs Manufactured Housing Project was reported at 2:42 a.m., said Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman Melody Hendrickson.

``The first arriving engine company reported a single-wide manufactured home well-involved with fire,'' Hendrickson said.

Twenty firefighters from six engine companies put out the flames in 31 minutes, she said, but not before the home, a vehicle and an outbuilding were destroyed.

Two adults and three children lived in the home and the American Red Cross was called to the scene to help them find accommodation, Hendrickson said.

No injuries were reported, she said.
